Tough, tubeless and sealed against the worst of winter.
Not the lightest wheelset, not trying to be. The 4 Season is built to survive Nordic winters — sealed bearings, a wide tubeless bed and a spoke count that takes a loaded bike and a pothole in its stride.
Tough, tubeless and sealed against the worst of winter.
A wheelset that leads with “sealed bearings” and “wide tubeless bed” rather than a weight figure is telling you exactly what it’s optimised for, and the 4 Season doesn’t pretend otherwise. This is a wheelset built to survive a Nordic winter of salted roads, freeze-thaw cycles and gritty gravel commuting, not to shave grams off a race-day setup, and every design choice reflects that priority.
Tubeless setup was genuinely painless on first fitting — tyres seated with a standard floor pump and no compressor drama, which isn’t a given even on wheelsets marketed as tubeless-ready. Through a full winter of commuting and weekend gravel riding, including plenty of salted tarmac and standing water, they’ve held both air pressure and lateral trueness without needing a single truing adjustment, which for a wheelset in this price bracket is a genuinely good result. The wide internal rim bed lets larger gravel tyres sit in their intended shape rather than the slightly peaked, narrow profile a tighter rim forces, which measurably improves both grip and comfort at lower pressures.
The one consistent niggle through testing has been freehub noise — it’s a loud engagement, noticeably more so than premium hubs at two or three times the price, and it’s the kind of thing that either becomes background noise within a week or mildly irritates you every single ride, depending on your tolerance. It’s a cosmetic and auditory complaint rather than a functional one; engagement itself has been reliable throughout.
These are not light wheels, and they don’t try to be — you can spend considerably more for a wheelset that shaves several hundred grams, and considerably more again for one that also looks less utilitarian. For a wheelset built specifically to survive the worst of a Nordic winter without complaint and without a second thought about salt or grit, the value proposition here is difficult to beat, and the lifetime-plus-crash-replacement warranty backs that up in a way few competitors match.
