We have all been there, the day when you decided to become a cyclist. It really isn’t so much about the gear or km’s as it is about taking a mental stand and committing to the lifestyle of cycling.. we are of course talking about shaving your legs here.. haha.

To us, what’s so captivating about cycling is the feeling of total freedom, independence and getting to spend time outside. The core of why we like cycling has nothing to do with watt’s, split times or KOM’s… but it sure adds another layer of fun and excitement to your two wheeled experience! This is the condensed version of how and why you need a bike-computer onboard when you hit the road in the future and all you need to know to get started!

Data, data, data…

So, here we are.. you have a bike you love to ride, invested in a pair of bibs so you can go farther and upgraded to clip pedals with real cycling shoes so you can go faster.

Discovered the joy of joining a group ride, loving the solitude of chasing kilometers solo and Strava is your new best friend. Well we have good news for you, there is more.. lots more to discover, explore and enjoy!

There is this new world of cycling that, just like discovering the “hidden” second layer of chocolate pralines in the chocolate box, will literally take your breath away!

Tracking speed, cadence, puls, watts, the possibilities are limitless and the learnings are endless! You got to love the world we live in when you can fit a computer machine to your bicycle handlebars with more computing-power than what NASA used to put a man on the moon back in 1969.

So if you’re reading the NASA reference and still hesitate about if this fully is for you, don’t worry! A bike computer will do so much more to make your life and ride easier! We are talking “turn by turn” navigation, height graphs, all kinds of averages and split times and even show you what time a day it is!

Here we go..

There are a wide range of brands, models and specifications out there but we got caught on the Wahoo bike computers. A bit sceptical at first, not to the brand but to the whole thing of carrying a NASA grade computer with you on a bike ride, but all it took was one ride and that thing is never coming off the bike again! We are forever “bikecomputer-baptised” and from now on data savvy, stats bewitched and fully strava converted.

We rock the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt (can you hear how fast this thing is? BOLT!).

We love the Bolt for it´s small, convenient size and aero features. How it delivers value and data like you actually could take it to the moon… oh and did we mention the wicked battery life on this bad boy? Well there you have it!

We like Wahoo, not just because they create boss-gear but because they’re the “new kid on the block”, the underdogs and it’s about time Garmin gotta run for their money. Add being easy to use and ultimately cheaper than its rivals and we have a pretty strong case going.

The Bolt

The Wahoo Bolt are doing an amazing job of taking on the competition and adding new value and features to the segment. The Bolt is the middle of three models, offering aerodynamically tuned out front computer, something no one else is offering on the market today.

Setting up the Bolt is easier than assembling an IKEA bookshelf and all you need is a smart phone – most of the “setting up” will be done from your phone with the Wahoo app, making it a smooth and easy process. Leaving you with lots of spare time for cycling, more cycling or maybe analysing your last ride. We appreciate the many options when it comes to custom “data screens” and how you from the computer can access a vast selection of preloaded workouts and training regimes.

The wrap-up

All and all: go data, go fun facts, go competing with your buddies on the strava Kom’s/ Qom’s, go get lost and find your way back again, go to the next level, go sip a coffee, go get a bike computer!

This tiny machine has made a huge difference in our cycling and we believe a bike computer can benefit every rider, from the Tour de France riders to the Weekend Warriors!

Go get the miles and dig deep into the data!

Thank-you for taking the time, we hope you enjoyed the read! / TheBikepack
