Five days, one long loop around the bottom half of the country — forests, coastline and the flatlands of Skåne stitched together.
Södra Sverige Runt is a big, honest lap of the country's southern half — five days out of Jönköping that trace a wide circle through the Småland highlands, down to the flat farmland and beaches of Skåne, west along the Halland coast, and back north into Gothenburg. Nothing about it is exotic; that's the point. It's ordinary Swedish road cycling stacked up until it becomes something bigger than the sum of its days — forest one morning, coastline the next, a ferry-town harbour by the third evening. Pack for changeable weather in every direction and expect the wind to have an opinion at least once a day. Accommodation along the way ranges from wild camping in the forested middle days to small-town guesthouses near the coast, and most riders book ahead for at least the Skåne and Halland nights since options thin out fast outside the bigger towns. The route stays on paved roads throughout, which keeps the logistics simple even if the distances are long — this is an endurance test of days in the saddle rather than technical difficulty. May through September is the realistic window; outside that, the coastal stretches in particular get genuinely exposed.
Out of the Vättern basin and east across the highlands to the Baltic coast near Kalmar.
Back inland through forest and small-town Småland.
The longest stretch of flat farmland on the loop, running south into Skåne.
West across the border and up the coast into Halland.
The final push north along the coast road to close the loop.
